AYNEHA School guides learners from the very first letter to reading real Songhay words. Everything happens inside the app, offline: you can learn in a village as well as in town.

What it does

  • The alphabet letter by letter: the 5 vowels and 22 consonants, each with its pronunciation, spelling, every form and example words
  • The 4 diacritics (nasalisation, opening, double, silent) explained one by one, with the table of the 50 combinations and their rules
  • The syllabary: each consonant with the five vowels, in simple, nasal or double form
  • The digits: the 10 AYNEHA digits, a converter, a table from 0 to 9999, ordinal numbers and the decimal comma
  • The name of each number in Songhay, in Latin letters and in AYNEHA, up to 999,999
  • Finger tracing of letters, their variants and digits, rated from 0 to 3 stars
  • Six quiz games of 10 questions (recognise, find, which diacritic, read the syllable, digits, put in order), with your best score kept
  • A transcription workshop: type in Latin letters, the text is written in AYNEHA with an explanation of each letter; copy it or share it as an image
  • A « Practise » mode: a word is given, you write it with a keyboard of AYNEHA letters and the app corrects you
  • Reading real texts: syllables, words, the capital and the 19 regions of Mali, Songhay family names, days, months, short sentences and the national anthem, all checked by the author
  • A glossary of nearly 400 words sorted by theme, with search in Songhay or French and a button to practise
